Taking Liberties is a project by an existing client, Ben Sharma, to create a place for constructive discussion and debate in the Canadian conservative movement. He asked for a simple, bold design but otherwise largely left details up to my discretion. The resulting logo conveys that the site is a place for different viewpoints working together to create a better understanding. The base colours of blue and green, reference both the modern Conservative Party and its tradition (blue) and the old Reform Party’s bold, fresh vision for Canada (green). The use of multiple colours throughout the site is a reference to a quote by Ronald Reagan imploring citizens to paint their values in “…no pale pastels, but bold colours.”
